Liam Nicholl

Liam Nicholl, Dublin Chairman

Liam Nicholl, 2018 Chairman of Union, Dublin Branch, attended CCR from 1965 to 1970. Subsequently Liam studied Natural Sciences at Trinity College Dublin graduating with an Hons degree in Genetics and computer technologies. After graduating he immigrated to Australia and took a position working in Information Technology while also undertaking post graduate studies in Computer Science at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Returning to Ireland in the 1980’s, after 6 years abroad, he set up a software development company, Compufast Software Ltd., both in Ireland and UK, specialising in Workforce Management Systems with offices in Dublin and London. Throughout his career, Liam has travelled extensively and secured business deals with public and private sector organisations throughout Ireland and UK markets and operates a successful IT business to the present day.

Fergal Cox, Committee Member

Fergal went to Cistercian College from 1987-1992 and subsequently obtained a Bachelor of Actuarial and Financial Studies from UCD. Fergal worked with Bank of Ireland Global Markets from 1995-2002 and with Rabobank Ireland from 2002-2012.

Fergal is a principal founder and the COO of Three Rock Capital Management, an investment management firm based in Dublin and authorised by the Central Bank of Ireland. Three Rock Capital was founded in 2012 and has seen its assets under management grow from $5mio in 2012 to $100mio currently.

Fergal originally hails from Leitrim but now lives in Westmeath. His three brothers also attended Cistercian College and he currently serves on the Finance Committee of Cistercian College.

Aiden Mc Nulty

Aiden Mc Nulty, Committee Member

Aidan graduated from Cistercian College Roscrea in 1965. He went on to obtain a Batchelor of Civil Law from UCD and then graduated from the Law Society as a solicitor. An active past pupil, Aidan is a long standing member of the Dublin Branch since leaving CCR.

While President of the Cistercian College Roscrea Union in 2000, Aidan was responsible for the commissioning of artist Thomas Ryan for the portraits of the Right Rev Dom Columcille O'Toole and the past school presidents dating back from 1905, which can presently be found hanging in the school.

In 2012, Aidan was conferred by the Central Committee and members of the Union, presented by Patron of the Union, Dom Richard Purcell ocso, as a Honarary Life Vice-President of the Cistercian College Roscrea Union, in recognition of exceptional service rendered to the Union over many years.

In 2013, Aidan established the annual Dublin Branch Business Lunch which is currently held in Fitzwilliam Lawn Tennis Club.

Derek Masterson, Committee Member

Derek left Roscrea in 2005 and is a Graduate of UCD (B.A. Hons). Since then he has worked in theatre and has written, directed and produced  numerous plays  including critically acclaimed “Bound”, “Angel”, “A Nice Bed to Die In”, “A Mother’s Love” and the hugely popular “Queens of Pimlico” all of which played to sell out audiences throughout some of Dublin’s most popular theatres. His plays “My Second Self” and “Two Sides of a Coin” were selected to be a part of the 2013 and 2014 International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival. Derek has also had short pieces staged in New York City as part of The Break Away Project’s “Creating Connectivity” ; been selected for The New Theatre’s New Writing Week in 2013 and 2015 ; partook in the “spcedLIMERICK” collaborative ; commissioned by and acted as a script doctor for other theatre companies, and was part of Dublin Theatre Festivals “Play On” initiative in 2013. In 2009 he founded the prodigious No Tears Productions theatre company. You can also find working as a paralegal when he needs money. 

He is delighted to a member of the CCR Past Pupil's Union (Dublin Branch) and is a very proud past man. 


Michael McNamara, Committee Member

Went to college 1965-1970. Member of Dublin branch for over 30 years. Member of central committee and past president of the Union. Father, two brothers and two sons also went to CCR.

I left CCR in 2005 to pursue a career in Architecture. After 5 years of study and 4 years in the profession I am now a Marketing Strategist and Design Consultant helping clients structure their marketing and target clients efficiently and affectively!

I hope to meet fellow pastmen to network with and share some fun stories!

My Father, Grandfather, Brother and two uncles attended CCR
